Founding directorInternational Library of Fashion Research

In 2020, Elise By Olsen founded International Library of Fashion Research, a specialized fashion library with extensive programming. As one of the world’s most comprehensive repositories of contemporary fashion publications, the library fills a much-needed gap in the preservation of and critical engagement with fashion’s printed culture at an institutional level. As the Director, By Olsen established the Board of Directors – including Akiko Fukai, Carmen Busquets, Cecilia Dean, Harold Koda, Terry Jones, Vince Aletti – and initial educational and corporate partnerships. The library’s permanent collection is animated by an extensive program of talks, digital annotations and micro-curations, and will continue to grow via further donations from global fashion houses, publishers and practitioners.
